The urban economy life condition in China is improving rapidly, and the rate of private car ownership has greatly increased. That is to say, it refers to the factors that the traffic operation is initially separated from the human management, which automatically controls the traffic operation based on the perception of the analysis and judgment to our traffic environment to realize the two-way control of man and machine. Data shows intelligent transportation can reduce the accident rate by more than 20 percent and increase the traffic capacity by 2-3 times. At the same time, it can achieve effectively real-time transportation management, improve the efficiency of transportation and resource utilization, and promote energy conservation and emission reduction. Thus, it is imperative for China to develop intelligent transportation.

Improved by the 5G Technology

5G breaks through the bottleneck of the 4G technology and vigorously promotes the implementation of intelligent transportation. In the previous 4G environment, the uplink bandwidth is usually less than 50Mbps, resulting in low video definition, long delay, and transmission delay more than 100ms, which has a greater security risk for transportation. While under the 5G environment, the uplink bandwidth can reach 100-200mbps, and the transmission delay can be reduced to less than 30ms under the same conditions, which increases the feasibility of remote control for the transportation system. In the transportation industry, automatic driving, vehicle road coordination, and intelligent expressway are all inseparable from 5g technology. As an extension of 5g, intelligent transportation is gradually implemented with the rapid development of 5g. We believe that 2020 is the key year for the implementation of intelligent transportation.

Policies are Strongly Supporting the Development of Intelligence Transportation

The relevant policies propose to basically build a strong transportation country from 2021 to 2035, and to comprehensively build a strong transportation country from 2035 to the middle of this century. With the help of information technology, intelligent transportation has become an important means to deepen the reform of government systems, accelerate the construction of service-oriented government, improve the effective governance capacity, which is the main driving force of the strategy of building a strong transportation country. At the same time, the new infrastructure field in which the government expands the investment has attracted common attention, while the transportation industry closely related to the new infrastructure will take advantage of it to achieve great success. In the past two years, the annual fixed asset investment in transportation has grown steadily at a high level of more than 6.2 billion USD in 2019 and has been predicted to be 11 billion USD in 2023.

Europe, the US and Japan with the Fastest Development

Since the 1980s, the United States, Western European countries, and Japan have begun to research ITS which has developed maturely in developed countries such as Europe, Japan, and the US whose rate of ITS application has reached more than 80%. Its application in-vehicle safety system, electronic toll collection, and commercial vehicle management system has developed rapidly. Global intelligent transportation will grow from 5.9 billion USD in 2016 to 27.6 billion USD in 2022 with a CAGR of 21%. 

China is not only the country with the fastest infrastructure construction speed in the world, but also the country with the fastest traffic demand growth. But for one thing, the traditional infrastructure model in China is unable to keep up with the increasingly huge transportation system. For another thing, since it is hindered by the limited talent and facilities resources, China urgently needs to introduce and apply the optimized ITS. Compared with developed countries, intelligent transportation construction started late in China where it has gradually shifted from the exploration stage to the pilot application stage, far from the maturity of developed countries. The government requests to strengthen the research and development of ICV and form an independent, controllable, and complete industrial chain. The enterprises in the industry have made layout and vigorously promoted the development process of China's intelligent transportation. For the future market space of intelligent transportation, it is expected that it will exceed 14.3 billion USD in 2020, with a CAGR of more than 10 percent.
