Global Pet-coke Gasification Market Overview
According to Global Market Monitor, the global pet-coke gasification market size will reach $3814.24 million in 2023 and is expected to grow to $8252.21 million by 2028. Petroleum coke is a by-product of the refining process. With global crude oil processing capacity increasing, the production of petroleum coke continues to grow. Gasification using petroleum coke as raw materials is an effective way for efficient and clean utilization of petroleum coke.
Environmental Performance Has Led to Further Expansion of the Pet-coke Gasification Market
The process of gasification is the conversion of solid or liquid fuel into gas. The process can be performed on many different types of fuels, including coal, wood, and petroleum coke. The resulting gas can be used for many purposes, including heating homes or powering factories.Gasification is a known method of converting petroleum coke into power, steam, and hydrogen for producing clean transportation fuels, which is effective, economically, and environmentally to utilize petroleum coke with excellent environmental performance. As people’s demand for energy continues to increase and environmental protection is increasingly valued, the pet-coke gasification market will further expand.
Due to the presence of a large number of regional and international suppliers worldwide, the global petroleum coke gasification market is highly competitive and diversified, with increasingly fierce competition in price, quality, and market share factors. In addition, some suppliers are increasingly focusing on research and development activities to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, toxic gases, and metals in the environment, and are also conducting research into poly-generation pet coke.
Siemens is one of the major players in the pet-coke gasification market, with a share of 9.33% in 2022.Siemens AG is an engineering and manufacturing company, focusing on areas of electrification, automation, and digitalization.

The Siemens gasifier is a dry-feed, pressurized, entrained-flow reactor, which can be supplied with either a refractory lining for low ash feedstocks or a cooling screen in the gasification section of the gasifier. The cooling screen consists of a gas-tight membrane wall structure that is studded and refractory-lined with a thin layer of silicon carbide for protection. The molten slag formed in the gasifier chamber cools and solidifies as it contacts the cooling screen, forming a compact slag layer, protecting it from further damage by the flowing slag. Once a slag layer is formed over the cooling screen, subsequent hot slag flows down the reactor chamber into the quench section of the gasifier where it solidifies upon contact with water from a ring of quench nozzles and is removed through a lock hopper. |
